The system of learning Chitas (חת׳׳ת - an acronym for Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya) ensures that daily, Jews ground themselves in their connection to Hashem through Torah by learning the daily Aliyah from the weekly Torah portion, through Tefillah by reciting the daily portion of Tehillim, and through better understanding Neshamos by learning Tanya. And the bigger, the better - Chayenu is a weekly learning booklet that includes these portions in an accessible, bilingual Hebrew-English format with additional enrichment sections such as daily Parsha insights, Rambam, and Halacha from Kitzur Shulchan Aruch. For people who are looking for a daily dose of Torah, we want to enable their learning through resources and community chavrutot.

These are extremely important parts of life, and this club aims to bring them all together in one place. We maintain that Torah and Mitzvos are the foundation of everything. On top of that, we believe that students deserve equal access to the foods that align with their principles. Our uniting factor is obstinance towards unnecessary brand name foods, such as Hershey and Haagen-Dazs from which the Chassidim go beyond the letter of law to safeguard themselves. We would like milk and dairy products in the same quantity as everybody else. Our mission is to bring our principles to the forefront of our lives... and to bring delicious options to our members.

Since our adolescence, women are less encouraged to be involved in Politics than men. According to the UN Women organization, women hold about 27% of all government cabinet seats worldwide, and just 35.5% of seats in local government. Young men grow up to see themselves represented in politics, while women sit back and hope to see our ‘firsts’. This lack of encouragement is manifested throughout political science majors in universities, high school and college elective class enrollment, election turnout rates, and just about anywhere where politics is relevant, including within co-ed student body elections. This is clearly a huge problem. The less that women are present in political and decision-making roles, the less we will be represented in our government. We make up half the population and we need for that ratio to be represented. The solution to this problem begins with simply encouraging women to get involved. Many of the amazing political societies or club events at YU are based on the Wilf campus. I believe having something that is specifically aimed towards Beren will make a huge difference and push for female involvement. I will hope to get female speakers such as past Stern students who have made their way in a Political career to discuss the challenges as not only a woman, but a religious woman, and how to get past them. Additionally, this society will ensure that all political speakers and initiatives have ample transportation options to and from Wilf. Additionally, even though this is technically a Beren campus society, the Wilf campus will be encouraged to join for relevant events. I foresee this society making a huge difference in regards to female involvement in politics, at least for women at YU!
